Sanford  Gop committee

Meet the Team

Bradford Littlefield, Chair, Sanford GOP Committee. Small business owner, Field Inspections & E-Commerce Entrepreneur

How does an individual become an officer on the Sanford GOP Committee?

Many Republicans often ask how an individual is elected to the Sanford GOP Committee as an officer.   This is a fair question and often times a somewhat a long and difficult question to understand.  Every two years in a legislative election year (even years such as 2016)  the Maine State Republican Committee establishes a Maine GOP Caucus day...in 2016 this date was March 5th and was conducted in Biddeford for all municipal caucuses in York County.   In addition to voting for a presidential candidate the Republicans who attended also broke out into separate municipal meetings or caucuses which are conducted in different rooms of the caucus site building for each community..  At these meetings the local Republican voters/attendees from their respective towns/cities elect their respective local GOP committee Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary,  Treasurer and Finance Chair.   The local GOP voters/attendees also elect delegate attendees to the MeGOP State Convention and alternates...in Sanford for example the MeGOP allocated 43 voting delegates and 43 alternates for Sanford Republicans to elect from the municipal GOP voter rolls as delegates to the MeGOP State Convention.  Additionally, a "Caucus Chair" is elected to run the aforementioned local caucus and also serves as a "Delegation Chair" to make sure that all the delegates who are elected to the MeGOP State Convention receive their packets and are organized and ready to go to the MeGOP Convention. The Caucus Chair also serves to fill any seats from the local GOP Voters that often go vacant after the Maine Caucuses.
