///////////////////////////////////////PRESS RELEASE/////////////////////////////////////
                                                                 October 16, 2022

Recently, if you lived in certain parts of Sanford, you received a nasty surprise in your mailbox. You might have thought it junk mail and tossed it into the trash. Some of you might have read it and saw it for what it was. Hate Mail! The glossy card was a political ad sponsored by a political action committee based out of Washington D.C. It targeted Pam Buck who is running against Mayor Anne Marie Mastraccio in Maine House District 142. The flyer was produced to help turn voters away from Pamela Buck and to help Anne Marie Mastraccio. The mayor sat next to Pam at a recent Candidate’s Night Q&A televised at City Hall. The statements printed in this negative ad were contrary to the statements Pam made on the live TV broadcast. Going Negative is not the way to win votes in Sanford. The comments posted on this flyer are untrue and despicable.

When asked about Abortion, Pam stated that she would follow Maine Law and change nothing. The flyer used terms like, “Backed by dangerous extremists”, “Keep Pam out of our State Legislature”, “We can’t trust Pamela Buck” and many more. This is what going negative looks like. If you’ve ever met Pam, you’d know how distorted this view of her is.

When asked about campaign ads, "Unfortunately, you're allowed to lie," said Tom Wheeler, former chair of the Federal Communications Commission under President Barack Obama. Well, that maybe ok with Washington politicians, but the good people in Sanford & Springvale don’t want to see that type of nastiness in our elections.

The Sanford Republican Committee demands that Mayor Anne Marie Mastraccio renounce negative campaign ads and disavow the statements made on her behalf by political consultants in Washington D.C.. Mainers deserve more from their politicians!

-Jim Deyermond, Chair
Sanford Republican Committee
